Sunham Home Fashions believes that any contribution to the society and environment is a small step in making a difference in the world. We are active in participating in initiatives that benefit society and are involved in a variety of programs such as helping people in need, animal protection, environmental conservation and encouraging education. All of these initiatives are part of our I Love Sunham project.
We believe in renewable energy and will try and use it wherever possible. We are amongst the first companies to install solar panels to our warehouse in New Jersey to create sustainable energy since 2009.
Exotic and domestic animals are unfortunately still trafficked and put on sale in the black market for their furs and because they are considered as a food delicacy. To this day we have contributed to the saving and freedom back into their original habitat to more than 20.000 species such as Deers, Monkeys Birds, Fish, Frogs and more hoping to give them a second chance to live the life they were supposed to.
Education has always been very important in our family so in 1978 we funded and built a primary school in our home town village in Tuopu in the suburbs of the city Shantou in China. This helped the community by creating jobs for the local teachers as well as educating more than 230 children.
To extend our involvement in the education program we partnered with the Chang Hsuen Liang Education Foundation Limited, helping great students to continue their studies further in Northeastern University. We funded the academic years of more than 260 students with financial issues.
Being in the Home Fashion industry allows us to also help the animals in need of warmth and comfort throughout the seasons. We regularly dontate any sample and extra bedding with some defects to shelters which are always in need of towels and blankets.
Donated funds to a Keninan community in Africa. With the donation they were able to build necessary equipment for the local school and the sponsored child’s family managed to buy goats, clothing, food and all the essentials needed for them to start their own small business to sell milk to the nearby villages and send their children to school.
Knowing that our contribution helped save the life of a small baby to the oldest grandparent is priceless.
Blythedale frequently serves low-income families from the New York metropolitan region. They encounter many families who are living in or near poverty, as well as several families each year who are homeless. Our donation contribuited to their Parent support program as well as to their clinical research.
The Giving Circles Fund is a very lean organization with a small, yet incredible team. The money given helped in supporting their operations which enables them to raise awareness around next gen philanthropy and encourage people in their 20’s and 30’s to give funds of their own.
There are more than 270,000 people in the U.S. who experience a TBI every year. More than 50 percent of these injuries are due to automotive, motorcycle, bicycle and pedestrian accidents. Most recently, our American soldiers who are returning home from Iraq present the newest challenge for serving the Traumatic Brain Injured. We are proud to have been part of a bridge to hope and healing for those recovering.
The mission of the nonprofit Housewares Charity Foundation is, in the spirit of goodwill, to raise funds annually for designated charities and help unite and promote the philanthropic image of the housewares industry.
We participated in the Annual Charity Golf Outing to join The Jack Martin Fund Program in Pediatric Oncology which was established to consolidate, coordinate, and expand clinical services for children with leukemia and cancer. It will consist of examination, treatment, and consultation rooms.
Macy’s Passport Presents Glamorama® is one of the highest profile components to our year-round commitment to give back. We enjoyed the opportunity to partner with Macy’s for four evenings of fashion and compassion in the fight against childhood illness, cancer and HIV/AIDS.

The Needlers Foundation has been supporting underprivileged children for decades benefiting kids from all over the world by teaming up with leading children’s hospitals to help cure rare diseases. As Corporate Social Responsibility continues to grow among companies of all sizes, we are happy to say we were part of this as well.
We support the mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) which is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and wellbeing of children.
We are inspired by the brave children and families Camp serves as well as Paul Newman’s vision of giving back to those who may not have shared the luck he found in his own life. We feel blessed to be part of a community filled with love and friendship.
United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) educates, advocates and provides support services to ensure a life without limits for people with a spectrum of disabilities. Our contribution is a small step to advance the independence, productivity and full citizenship of people with disabilities through an affiliate network.

We are very proud to say that we donated to PETA to help put a stop to animal cruelty: our contribution went to instantly help animals suffering and dying on factory farms, in laboratories, in the fur industry, and in circuses and other forms of "entertainment."
Avaaz—meaning "voice" in several languages has a simple mission: organize citizens of all nations to close the gap between the world we have and the world most people everywhere want. They empower millions of people from all walks of life to take action on pressing global, regional and national issues, from corruption and poverty to conflict and climate change. We believe that the world should become a better place and when we come all together we become a collective force that can make a difference. We donated to Avaaz to give them our support in all accomplishments they have made till this day.
Animal Haven is a nonprofit organization that finds homes for abandoned cats and dogs throughout the Tri-State area, and provides behavior intervention when needed to improve chances of adoption. A few of us working at Sunham Home Fashions have adopted cats and dogs from this great organization. To thank them for having helped us add great members to our family we were happy to donate bedding and bath samples that can help our friends stay comfortable and warm.
The amount of plastic waste in our oceans and waterways is mind-boggling: 8 millions tons of plastic enter oceans each year. Plastic bottles alone make up 1.5 million tons of plastic waste annually. As a team we we able to collect 380n lbs of plastic waste in Randalls Island.
We joined the Cycle for Survival Battle and raised collectively $1500 to support the movement to beat rare cancers. It was a wonderful experience to contribute to this important cause that many of our loved ones and people we know have been unfortunately fighting against.
Every day at 10:30 a.m. sharp, hundreds of hungry and homeless New Yorkers walk through the doors of Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen to get a warm nutritious meal and seek help in finding their way on to a better way of life. But 45 minutes beforehand, another crowd is gathering: 50-60 volunteers who will make sure that happens: we are so proud to have been part of those volunteers and put a smile on their face.
The Animal Medical Center is dedicated to providing compassionate and collaborative care to animals and to leading the advancement of veterinary medicine through innovative clinical research and education. We are glad to be able to support AMC by donating bedding and bath samples to ensure each pet has a clean and comfortable cage during their recovery.
